  • I’ve just discovered BREEZE FM , I’m annoyed I didn’t know about it before. My car radio knows no other station now. Love it. Keep that station going.

  • I've been a Rebel listener for years but I've just recently found the Breeze and I'm enjoying some of the old songs I haven't heard in years. (Rebel still Rocks)

    Phil

  • The other stations always 'flog to death' an artists big hits. But 'the music I love' on THE BREEZE is the appreciation shown to an artist's other work...

  • Thanks ever so much for your response...............it shows your station really has soul and Elaine and I are definitely converts. I know it must be extremely difficult to satisfy all tastes all the time but just hearing new tunes - whether they be old or new - is just so refreshing. Keep up the good work as we intend spreading the word about your tremendous breath of fresh air for the GC. I belong to 2 active groups here on the GC - Sailability & Pedal Pals and I intend talking about your Stations format when we all resume in the New Year.

    John & Elaine

  • Just a note to say we are loving the tunes you play. We listen to GC 100.6. Keep all the oldies coming - especially the 80's. We LOVE IT.... Regards

Gillie and Greg Bernie and the office staff

What do you most love about working in radio?

Mmm! I think the best thing about the job is having the opportunity to meet fantastic people. At times I've had the opportunity to interview artists from the music industry and politicians. It's always interesting to hear the stories about  their lives and what led to their success. I also love the interaction with the listeners; people have so many interesting things to tell you about their lives.

Where did you get you first break in the industry?

Really it was a case of being in the right place at the right time! In fact, my first big break in the industry was at 4SS on the Sunshine Coast. In the late 1980s, after radio school, I decided to call into 4SS and drop off my aircheck to the Program Director. This turned out to be a good thing since they were after someone for the weekend shifts. Luckily for me, they liked what they heard and offered me the gig.

Got a story that stands out about your time in radio/media?

Years ago, I went on the NSW Big Bike ride and did reports along the way. This ride  was huge achievement for me since it involved peddling a bike for more than 600 kilometres. I think the worst of it was on the last day because I had stayed up late the night before and found it very difficult to ride the final part of the trek. I believe I was going so slow that a small child passed me on their bike with trainer wheels. That was memorable, but in the end it was worth because it raised money for charity.

Your best feature?

My best feature my enduring ability to perservere and look at life in a realistic way.

Your idea of time out?

I love just having a bit of time to curl up and read a good book. Ever since I  finished studying (BA Communication) I think I've read most of Patricia Cornwalls novels. Once you start on one you just have to keep going... Well, that's my excuse!

If you could pick one thing that describes your personality, what would be?

Patience! No not really I think I could definitely learn to be more patient. Ahh! probably compassion, that's because someone said that to me a few years ago. I'm apparently compasionate and understanding (maybe its because I'm a good listener).
